SELECTING TUSCAN KITCHEN WALL COLORS
Tuscan kitchen decorating colors are warm, yellow-based colors. Consider colors that are nature inspired. When decorating Tuscan, think ripe, golden pears, a clear turquoise lake, rusty orange terra cotta earthenware, luscious green olives or the rich burgundy of aged wine. All these earth tone shades are possibilities for Tuscan kitchen colors.
Yellow and orange are important colors to consider when creating a Tuscan kitchen. Yellow is subdued and found in shades of gold as seen in golden olive oil and creamy stucco walls in ancient buildings. Shades of gold are Mediterranean neutrals found on floors and walls as well as in cabinetry and furniture. The orange colors in Mediterranean design are burnt terra cotta orange or even darker. Rusty burnt orange is used on walls and floors. Darkest shades are found in scrolled ironwork, dark cabinetry and furniture.

For kitchen accent colors, warm tomato red, cobalt blue, olive green, soft white and golden sunflower yellow are often found in ceramic art throughout southern Europe. Add dimension and interest by softening your ceramic and metal decorating accessories with textural floral and fruits.
DECORATING WITH RED Shades of red are dramatic in the Tuscan style kitchen. Burnt orange and copper are shades of red found in dark wood, granite counter tops, copper wares, iron wall decor and wrought iron pot racks.
Red food canisters, decorative red pottery, wrought iron candle holders and framed art with predominant red tones set the stage for dramatic decorating in the old world kitchen and throughout a Mediterranean style home.
