TRADITIONAL STYLE IN AUSTIN TUSCAN HOMES
Tuscan style
architecture appears throughout the modern Austin building industry.
From commercial, to single-family home construction, Tuscan
architecture incorporates exteriors of natural stone combined with
stucco, clay tile roofs, arched windows large and small, arched portal
surrounds and wood pergolas supported by wood and stone columns,
vestibule entrances, and towering turrets.

A Mediterranean style house may be Spanish, French Country or Tuscan in
design and characteristics common to these styles are seen in
architecture throughout Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston.
Mediterranean style architecture includes a passage between the
entrance and the interior of a building. Tuscan-style entry ways
include vestibules defined by arches and grand columns. Spanish-style
entry ways are often pergolas constructed from dark heavy beams.
Solid wood entry doors are tall and often include wrought iron grilles.
Arched doors and windows embellished with wrought iron are primarily on
the first floor and small windows on the second story.
Traditional Mediterranean properties are fenced and gated for privacy.
Interest in historic architectural traditions found in Mediterranean
regions is seen in structures with a low-pitched, hipped roof, covered
with terra cotta colored roof tiles. The roof has wide, overhanging
eaves embellished with large brackets under the roof line.
