Barocco Architectural Prints Whether decorating walls in private spaces or common gathering areas, nothing says old world like Barocco Italiano. Each print is versatile artwork that can be used alone or combined as a pair to span large wall space. Barocco Italiano is the period in art history when Rome became the center of a renewal of Italian dominance in the arts. The term baroque refers to periods in literature and music, a style of art and architecture predominant in Europe and certain European colonies in the Americas throughout the 1600s. In the early 17th century, the major Italian baroque architects included Carlo Maderno, Francesco Borromini, and Guarino Guarini. Their designs created effects of realistic dramatic tension, strong light-and-dark contrasts, and the illusion of variegated colors. Scrolls and rosettes were common building ornamentation and it is these scrolls and rosettes that are the subject of our BAROCCO fine art prints. |
